On its way to the 2016 Sun ‘n Fun Fly-in, Lancair’s new Evolution Piston (http://www.evolutionaircraft.com/aircraft/evolution-piston/) paid a visit to Performance One Aviation. Kevin Eldredge, Director of Business Development, flew into Falcon Field so we could check out this terrific new aircraft from Lancair (http://www.lancair.com/).
Dr. H. Allen Anderson is the proud owner/builder of N52PE the first Lancair Evolution powered by Lycoming iE2 FADEC engine. He recently retired from his 35 year ENT/Allergy practice in San Angelo, TX. Dr. Anderson has been a long-time Performance One customer with his Lancair IV-P, N9GG pictured here.
“I have enjoyed very much the many hours building and flying my Lancair IV-P but I chose to build the first Piston Evolution because of the larger cabin, pressurized baggage compartment, and roomy seating for four. The slower landing speed of the Evolution compared to the Lancair IV-P also makes it much easier to get on the ground for a non-pilot if necessary.”Dr. Allen Anderson
One of Dr. Anderson’s favorite trips he is looking forward to in his new iE2 powered Piston Evolution will be San Angelo, Tx to Oshkosh, Wi. This trip is 944 nautical miles. While his IV-P could fly faster, the iE2 powered Evolution will fly easily get there non-stop in just over 4 hours, total fuel burn around 80 gallons and now with his potty installed there is really no reason to make any stops.
Imagine no more cannulas in your nose just to get over the weather, or fussing with the kids and O2 masks while you try and climb over the turbulence. The piston powered Evolution is the same kit as our proven Turbine version so you can rest assured that the airframe can handle anything you might encounter.
